Departamento opens new store in downtown, Los Angeles

Luxury men’s multi-brand retailer Departamento has opened its latest storefront in Los Angeles, California. The new store, located within the iconic architectural retail enclave Signal in downtown Los Angeles, was designed by LA-based firm 22RE.

Similar to the retailer’s existing storefront, customers access the store through a concealed entrance that is located in Concierge Coffee. After walking through the discreet entrance, customers must walk through a portal with mirrored walls before landing in the new store.

The retail location maintains much of the original architecture of the industrial building and showcases a non-linear layout that aims to challenge the traditional shopping experience. Departamento’s collection are showcased on monolithic and sculptural forms, while the dressing rooms are secluded.

The store also features a shop-in-shop from Taiga Takahashi, which showcases the collection in a ryokan-inspired setting, completed with Sugi wood and shelving with Japanese tatami mat bases. The new Departamento store is located at 821 Traction Avenue.
