New York Fashion Tech Lab returns for 9th year

Women’s History Month is here, and it’s always time to support women entrepreneurs. This year, the New York Fashion Tech Lab (NYFTLab), a program for women advancing fashion and retail-tech solutions, is returning for its 9th year, supported by 12 retail and brand partners. The 2022 cohort includes six companies, selected by the NYFTLab fashion, beauty, and retailer partners. All these companies are women-led and offer solutions focused on emerging fashion technology topics, such as the Metaverse, NFTs, gaming, social commerce, returns, and personalization.

During the program, these companies will collaborate with NYFTLab’s retail and brand partners to help address issues that fashion, beauty, and retail companies face today as technology continues to advance. Many companies are only just beginning to navigate the Metaverse and NFT spaces. Returns continue to be a big issue for retailers as they focus on turning a profit and becoming more sustainable.

This year’s selected companies are Dress X, Greenlist, Digital Village, Funomena, Squadded, and Window. The companies come from across the globe, including New York, Los Angeles, Paris, San Francisco, Tel Aviv, and DC. The retailers supporting this year’s lab include Burberry, The Estée Lauder Companies, Levi Strauss & Co., LVMH, Macy’s Inc., Perry Ellis International, PVH Corp., Richemont, Tapestry, and Tory Burch. These fashion and beauty companies are joined by Marriott International and Walmart in supporting these young entrepreneurs, marking the largest group of brand partners to date for NYFTLab.

“It is extremely exciting to have the partner’s continued support and involvement,” said Jackie Trebilcock, managing director of NYFTLab, in a statement. “These organizations realize the value in cutting edge new technologies, and we can’t wait for the lab companies to collaborate with them and others in our network to propel the acceleration and transformation of this industry.”

Tech company Accenture will is returning as a partner, and Grazia USA will join as a media partner. The program runs from March to June and culminates with the companies participating in a Tech Runway Demo Day, where each founder will present to fashion and retail executives, investors, and media representatives.
